This qPCR master mix provides excellent performance for sensitive, robust and accurate qPCR detection assay.\u00a0 The eDNA qPCR master mix is \u200b\u200bhighly resistant to inhibitory factors, such as humic acids present in environmental samples. <\/strong><strong>This kit contains primers and a probe to detect a highly specific region on the mitochondrial DNA of the species <em>Trichobilharzia sp.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Detection as a service:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We offer the detection of <em>Trichobilharzia sp. <\/em>also as a service. See our eDNA service website (in <a href=\"https:\/\/sylphium.com\/eng\">English<\/a> or in <a href=\"https:\/\/sylphium.com\/edna\">Dutch<\/a>) or <a href=\"https:\/\/sylphium.com\/webshop\/contact\/\">contact us\u00a0<\/a>for more information about sampling, sending and pricing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Common species names:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>English: Swimmer\u2019s itch or cercarial dermatitis<\/li>\n<li>German: Badedermatitis, Zerkarien-Dermatitis or Schistosomatiden-Dermatitis<\/li>\n<li>French: Puce de canard,\u00a0dermatite cercarienne,\u00a0dermatite du nageur, dermatite du baigneur or\u00a0\u00a0poux de canard<\/li>\n<li>Dutch: Zwemmersjeuk<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Kit properties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Trichobilharzia sp.<\/em> detection kit has:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>High resistance to inhibiting factors<\/strong>. Environmental DNA (eDNA) extracts contain often multiple qPCR inhibiting factors. Normal qPCR master mixes are sensitive to these substances.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong fluorescence signal with low background noise<\/strong>. Isolated environmental samples contain residues of naturally occurring auto fluoresce substances that will interfere with the measurements. Environmental samples needs a strong fluorescence signal from the assay in order not to experience background interference.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Highest possible sensitivity<\/strong> (1 DNA copy per reaction). Environmental water samples may contain very low amounts of target DNA.<\/li>\n<li><strong>100% specificity<\/strong>. Isolated DNA from environmental samples contains billions of DNA fragments from bacteria, protozoa, plants, animals, etc. Not only animals from the same order (fish, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, etc.) must be taken in account during primer\/probe design, but all known DNA sequences must be checked for nonspecific binding of the primers and probe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full method validation report can be found below under <strong>\u201cRelevant<\/strong> <strong>documents<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The kit has been developed and optimized for use on eDNA isolates purified using the Sylphium Molecular Ecology eDNA Isolation Kit (#SYL002), although other eDNA isolation methods\/kits can be used as well.
