Sylphium molecular ecology is a Dutch biotechnology company specializing in the development of products and services for environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis.
We operate a fully equipped eDNA service laboratory and offer validated products for eDNA sampling, DNA extraxtion, qPCR analysis and metabarcoding.

eDNA Dual Filter™
High yield, easy to use
Designed for fast, on-site filtration without the need for complex equipment. The dual membrane system with a large area enables filtration of much higher volumes than conventional filters.
Contamination free, in-capsule preservation
Preservation buffer is added into the sealed capsule to stabilize DNA directly after filtration. The closed capsule design minimizes exposure and prevents cross-contamination between sampling sites

Horizon REFBAR project
Sylphium participates in the REFBAR project as an industrial partner, contributing expertise in eDNA sampling and extraction to help reinforce the network for an enriched freshwater phytoplankton barcode library.
REFBAR brings together experts from multiple sectors and disciplines to advance research on environmental DNA (eDNA). The initiative focuses on creating a well-curated, highly reliable genetic reference library for freshwater plankton microalgae, aiming to improve data quality, expand data coverage, and increase usability for aquatic ecosystem studies across Europe and beyond.
