eDNA Sampling Set – SYL009
The SYL009 eDNA Sampling Set is designed for efficient and clean environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling. It includes the eDNA Dual Filter Capsule and valves for quick and easy sampling. The Dual Filter Capsule is engineered for on-site filtration of large volumes of environmental water, minimizing cross-contamination risks. Featuring an optimal pore size of 0.8 µm for effective eDNA filtration, the capsule prevents rapid clogging with its dual-membrane design, offering a substantial filtering surface area.
After use, the eDNA Dual Filter Capsule can be securely closed with ‘luer lock caps’. It is suitable for in-capsule lysing and preservation, with storage at room temperature. During eDNA extraction, solid residues remain on the membrane, ensuring smooth downstream processing. The eDNA Sampling Set meets all requirements outlined in CEN/TC 230 – Water Analysis – N 1229.
eDNA Sampling Set Features
- Easy to Use: Simple (sub)sampling without pooling.
- High Yield: Large membrane surface and optimal pore size for eDNA filtration.
- No Contamination: Enclosed filter membranes and in-capsule conservation.
- Clean eDNA Isolates: In-capsule removal of PCR inhibitors during filtration and extraction.
Large Volumes and High eDNA Yields
Compared to commonly used filtering methods in eDNA studies, the eDNA Dual Filter Capsule filters nearly 10 times more water and eDNA than a filter funnel and 20 times more than a Sterivex™ filter. This results in significantly higher eDNA yields.

* Extensive stability tests have shown that DNA concentration in the preservation solution remains stable for at least two years. These tests, which included an internal positive standard, verified the integrity and consistency of the eDNA concentration. Additionally, potential contaminants from the water matrix were monitored, showing no significant effects on the buffer’s efficacy after three months, ensuring effective preservation of eDNA over long periods.
